Recyclable Christmas cards

We are all becoming more conscious of the materials we use and the effect they have on our environment. Here at Rosemood, we have been committed to protecting the world’s woodlands and respecting our surroundings from the very beginning. Atelier Rosemood is certified by Imprim’Vert, a French regulatory body that has recognised our commitment to responsible printing practices and educating our employees on the importance of the environment. In addition to this, we have carefully chosen the materials we use to ensure that all our Christmas cards and envelopes are recyclable. This guide is designed to help you take the next step to recycle (or even repurpose) the Christmas cards you receive this winter.

Eco-friendly Christmas cards from Rosemood

While there are many ways to give a new lease of life to old Christmas cards through recycling or reusing, we strive to make our stationery environmentally friendly to start with. Whichever paper you choose for your personalised Christmas cards, you can rest assured that it has been sustainably sourced from well-managed forests. As well as all our papers being FSC certified, we now offer the option to create your cards on recycled paper, which can go on to be recycled at the end of their lives. When ordering your recyclable Christmas cards, you will be invited to select the quantity of cards you wish to print. This is the perfect opportunity to reflect on who you would like to send your Christmas cards to, so that we print the exact quantity you require, and no paper goes to waste.

Another element to consider when choosing eco-friendly Christmas cards is whether to opt for small or large, flat or folded cards. If you like to keep your Christmas card greeting short and sweet, then selecting a postcard Christmas card or small Christmas card design this year will significantly reduce your environmental impact. To make the biggest difference, opt for recycled paper and deliver any cards to local friends and family by bike!

How to recycle your Christmas cards

To ensure that your recyclable Christmas cards can be transformed into recycled paper, be sure to separate your paper waste from your household rubbish. We suggest using a specific paper recycling bin to keep the paper clean. Other recyclable paper products include newspapers, cardboard packaging and loo roll tubes! Keep them all together until collection day. In many regions, your paper waste will be picked up from right outside your home. Check out your local council’s website for information about recycling in your area.

Repurpose your old Christmas cards

Of course, you can give your Christmas cards another life before you recycle them by finding a new use for them. If you have a colour scheme for your own Christmas decorations, collect any cards you receive that fit the theme. They could make wonderful festive bookmarks, gift tags, bunting or even candle covers! See our complete guide on what to do with your old Christmas cards for advice and instructions. Happy crafting!
