Wedding Table Plan Ideas

Whilst deciding who sits where can be a little painful, once you have decided on your seating plan, the fun part is turning those lists of names into a stunning table plan that will take pride of place at your wedding. Your wedding table plan is one of the first things that your guests will see as they arrive at your wedding reception so it is worth taking some time to get it right. It is also one of the only elements of your decoration where your guests are obliged to stop and look at it so it is a good opportunity to get creative and impress them from the beginning with your attention to detail. Take a look at some of our table ideas to get inspired for your big day, knowing that all of them can be adjusted to your crafting/DIY capabilities.

Framed wedding table plan

One of the easiest ways to turn your personalised table plan cards into a seating plan for your big day is to arrange them inside a frame. Choose your frame based on the style of your wedding and the design you choose for the cards. Add in a backing paper, some linen or hessian to the inside of your frame and then affix the table plan cards in order, before replacing the back of the frame back behind the glass. Otherwise, you can remove the backing from the frame and attach lengths of twine across to hang your wedding table plan cards in the empty frame using miniature wooden pegs.

Mirror table plan

Mirror table plans are not going anywhere soon. This table plan trend can be dressed up or dressed down to suit a wide range of wedding themes. Choose a class mirror with a decorative frame for a more traditional table plan or choose a minimalist mirror for a more modern feel. Either have a calligrapher write your guests’ names directly onto the mirror itself using a white marker or affix your table plan cards onto the mirror. Mirror table plans are very easy to make and can be easily stood upon an easel at the entrance of your reception venue.

Ladder seating plan

For a rustic table plan, you may wish to opt for a ladder seating plan. These decorative ladders are an easy way to make a statement at the entrance of your reception venue and are a budget-friendly way to create a focal point for your guests. A relative is sure to have a vintage ladder hanging around and if not you can easily find one online. Depending on the state of the ladder, you can either leave the natural wood finish or paint it to match your wedding colour scheme. You can then choose to hang your wedding table cards across the rungs of the ladder with rustic twine or to add the table cards to plant pots, bottles or even frames that can be placed on the steps.

Floral seating plan

The world is your oyster when it comes to floral wedding table plans. You can simply add some floral elements to your otherwise traditional framed plan or you can get truly creative. Attach your table plan cards to jars or vases of flowers or invest in some label holders that can be stuck into a plant pot. This will allow you to have your wedding table plan cards poke out from pots of aromatic herbs, succulent plants or small floral arrangements that match your centrepieces.

Wine Bottle Seating Plan

For an original table plan, you can get creative with wine bottles or coloured glassware. List your guests’s names directly on the bottles in your best calligraphy or personalise some of our wine bottle labels. Simply add your table number and the list of guests’ names and then affix these directly to the bottles or glassware. Be sure to soak off any existing labels beforehand and dry the bottle thoroughly. You can then arrange the bottles on a table, inside rustic crates or on the rungs of a stylish ladder. You can even add in a small floral arrangement to the top of each bottle to turn them into a stunning floral table plan that can be coordinated with your table centrepieces.
