DIY Table Plan Idea 1: Boho Chic

A unique and easy way to present your wedding table plan is to hang the individual cards along a line of string or ribbon that can be strung across an empty frame, between two walls or even in the branches of a tree. All you need to create this DIY seating plan is wedding table plan cards, some string, twine or ribbon, miniature wooden pegs and some scissors. You can also get creative and dress this option up with dried flowers or other decorative elements.

Start by cutting off a suitable amount of string or ribbon, (it is always better to cut a larger length and shorten it if necessary rather than cutting the string that bit too short). You can then peg your wedding table plan cards at even intervals along your string. To make your seating plan more decorative, you can choose to peg small bouquets of dried flowers or gypsophila between the cards. Alternatively, you can add small photo prints between the cards to help tell your love story. Once you have pegged the different cards and any decorative items to your string, you can simply hang it up in the most adapted place at the entrance to your venue.

DIY Table Plan Idea 2: Classic & Elegant

If you prefer to remain flexible and to have the option of hanging up your seating plan or posing it on an easel, mounting it is a great option. For this DIY wedding table plan, you will need a large wooden board, your table plan cards and something to stick your cards down with, whether that be glue, wedding stickers or washi tape. You may wish to keep a natural wooden board for a more rustic feel or you can paint it to blend in with your wedding colour scheme. If you have a more artistic side, painting the seating plan with a blackboard or chalkboard paint is also an attractive option that would allow you to add a title and or/some illustrations in chalk. You could even give your guests the option of leaving messages on the board!

Once you have prepared your board, you will simply need to work out the best arrangement for your table plan cards and stick them down using your chosen adhesive. We found that our gold wedding stickers were an elegant way to adhere the cards to a wooden board. You can then dress up your board with small floral arrangements, delicate foliage or other decorative items.

DIY Table Plan Idea 3: Modern

Another elegant option for your DIY wedding table plan is to use a metal grid. This option can be easily adapted to your wedding style and offers flexibility when it comes to placement at your venue. For this DIY, you will need your wedding table plan cards, a metal grid and miniature wooden pegs or metal binder clips. You may also wish to add decorative items or use paint depending on the grid that you have chosen.

If you wish to paint your grid to match your colour scheme you can do so using spray paint and we recommend doing this the night before you wish to attach your table plan cards to give the grid enough time to dry. You can then attach your seating plan cards using your wooden pegs, making sure they are evenly distributed across the grid. To decorate your table plan further, you can add some small bouquets of flowers or foliage, tying them to your grid or clipping them under your pegs.
