When should I send my wedding invitations?

It is never too early to send your wedding invitations, but we would recommend sending them out up to four months before your big day. This will make sure that your guests have all the information that they need well in advance. You may wish to send your invites out earlier if you are hosting a destination wedding so that your guests have the time to organise their transport and accommodation.

How many wedding invites should I order?

You will need to order one wedding invitation per household. Remember that you do not need to send an invitation to every single guest, but one to everyone who lives at the same address. On average, you will be looking to order around half the number of wedding invites vs guests, as the majority of guests will be part of a couple or a family. It is, therefore, useful to leave a space on your wedding invites to be able to add the specific names of your guests so that everyone knows who is invited from their family (i.e. if the children are also invited).

Who should I send wedding invitations to?

Everyone on your guest list should receive a wedding invitation. Daytime guests will require different information than your evening guests, so it is best to create two types of invitations to send accordingly. How do you write a wedding invitation?

Typically, wedding invitations begin with the hosts (who is paying for the wedding) requesting the presence of their guests at the wedding. This should be followed by: Names of the happy couple, Date and time of the ceremony and reception, Names of the wedding venues, RSVP contact details, RSVP deadline. Any other essential information such as ‘bring your dancing shoes’ or ‘carriages at midnight’ can also feature on your invitations. The rest of your information for guests, including accommodation suggestions and your gift list, is best printed on separate guest information cards.
