FAQ: Personalising my stationery

You will have a lot to think about when personalising your wedding invitations or baby announcements, so take a look below for questions frequently asked by our customers about how to create truly unique personalised stationery. Online editing tool

Which browser do I need to use to personalise my stationery online?

Our website is compatible with all major internet browsers, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari. We recommend that you use Chrome to get the most out of our website, as it offers the fastest service. We also recommend that you regularly update the version of your internet browser and clear the cache.

Your online editing tool does not seem to be working on my computer, what can I do?

Our online editing tool works best with Adobe Flash Player, so if you do not have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player this may be the reason why you are unable to access the online editing tool. In that case, you can download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player to your device. You can, however, opt to use our online editing tool without Adobe Flash Player and you will automatically be given this option if you do not have Adobe Flash Player on your device. Otherwise try opening the online editing tool in another browser and clearing your internet history and cache as this can also affect the performance of the online editing tool. If you are still unable to access our personalisation tool, then do not hesitate to get in touch with our customer service team, who will try and establish whether or not it is a problem with our website.

Personalising your stationery

What elements of your stationery can I personalise?

  • Our online editing tool allows you to add text to your personalised stationery, and you can also select the size, colour and font that you prefer.
  • You can also upload photos to our stationery that features photo fields (but you are not required to fill all photo fields if you wish to include fewer photos).
  • You will be given a choice of our paper types and range of coloured envelopes to make you stationery unique.
  • Whilst you cannot use our online editing tool to change essential elements of the illustrations or the base colour of the design, our graphic designers may be able to do so, so do not hesitate to get in touch with our friendly team to discuss advanced personalised changes.

What is an advanced personalised change?

Advanced personalised changes are modifications that you will be unable to do within our online editing tool but that our graphic designers can make once you have submitted your order. Please be aware that we are not able to change the colour of all designs, especially watercolour invitations or cards, so our friendly customer service team will let you know whether your desired changes are possible and whether they will incur a surcharge.

What is considered as an advanced personalised change?

  • Changing the colour of your invitations or cards, whether that be the background or the illustration
  • Moving or removing a part of the illustration or design
  • Adding photos to your stationery, when photo fields don’t form part of the design
  • Removing photo fields
  • Requesting a four-page version of a card or invitation that is usually only in a two-page version
  • Adding text to the inside of our christening or wedding order of service booklets
  • Creating a map for your guest information cards

Do I need to pay for advanced personalised changes?

The cost of advanced personalised changes is based on the time that it takes our graphic designers to complete such modifications. Get in touch with our customer service team, who will then give you a quote for your advanced changes. If you accept to pay the one-off personalisation fee, we will then provide you with an advanced personalisation code that you can use to pay the surcharge. Most of our one-off fees are around £10 or £15, so it can be worth paying the little extra to make your perfect invitations or cards.

How do I pay for my requested advanced personalised changes?

Once you have requested an advanced personalised change, our team will give you a quote for the one-off personalisation fee. If you accept this quote, we will then send you an email with a unique code. You can enter this code once you have validated your order, on the page that gives you a choice of paper and envelopes. The personalisation fee will then be added to your subtotal.

What can I do if I like the design but would prefer a different colour?

Do not hesitate to get in touch with our friendly team to see if it is possible to modify the colour of your chosen design. We will then let you know whether this change incurs a surcharge. Unfortunately we are unable to change the colour of watercolour designs, seeing as they were originally hand painted.

Can I order my invitations or cards in a different format to the one offered?

It is possible to change between a two-page and a four-page design, however, we are unable to offer personalised stationery in bespoke dimensions. Get in touch with our customer service team to find out whether or not it is possible to change the size of your invitations or cards. Please be aware that our customer service team may then ask you to submit your order on another design in order to match the format, but rest assured that your preferred design will then be transferred onto the card.

Why do I have to order a different design to the one I have chosen, if I want to change the format of my stationery?

We are unfortunately unable to produce bespoke dimensions for invitations or cards, but we can usually transfer the design from one format to another. Therefore we may ask you to submit an order by personalising another design in the desired format so that our graphic designers can then transfer the elements of your two-page card to a four-page one. Although it can be unnerving to personalise a design that you have not chosen, rest assured that our graphic designers will take the necessary steps to recreate your preferred design and we will show you the final version electronically before sending it to print.

Can I create personalised stationery in two different languages?

You can personalise our stationery in multiple languages. If you order the same design in different languages our graphic designers will take the necessary steps to harmonise the text and formatting across both versions. Now that we have websites in three different countries, we are able to proofread text in English, French and German. For any other languages, we ask you to double check your text for spelling errors as we will be unable to do so. Please note that if you would like to add text in Chinese or Arabic, you will currently be unable to do so in our online editing tool. You can, however, send us your text by email, (with instructions on where to position each piece of text), and our graphic designers will then add it to your personalised stationery.

The validation of my order is taking a long time, is this normal?

Once that you are happy with your personalised stationery, you can validate your order. This saves the design to our system, uploading the photos and text. It can, therefore, take up to 30 seconds for this process to take place. If after 30 seconds you are still waiting for confirmation of your order, you can get in touch with our friendly team.

Retouching service

What is your complimentary retouching service?

Once you submit your order, it will be checked by our proofreaders and graphic designers. Our proofreaders will double check for spelling errors, and may propose alternative text where necessary. They will then pass your order onto our graphic designers who optimise the formatting of your personalised stationery and retouch photos if required. If we have made significant changes to the text or layout of your stationery, we will send a copy to you electronically for your approval. This means that if you are having problems with the alignment or sizing of your text and images, you can leave a note to our graphic designers in the special instructions box so that they know to change the layout for you.

What does it mean when you ask me to validate or review my order?

If we have made changes to the text or layout of your text as part of our retouching service, then we will send you before and after images of your creation so that you see whether or not you are happy with the suggestions. We will also let you know by email that your order is available for review if you have requested advanced personalised changes that we would like you to see. You can then approve the changes and send your order to print, or request further changes.

What should I do if I can’t seem to get the alignment or size of the text quite right?

Do not panic! Our team of graphic designers take a look at your design before we send it to print so that the layout and text are optimised for printing. They will check the spacing and alignment of your text, as well as the quality of your images. Leave us a note if you wish your text to be formatted in a certain way, and once our graphic designers have worked on your request we will send you a copy electronically for approval.

What can I do if I am not happy with the changes that your proofreaders and graphic designers have made?

When we send you your order for validation, you will be given the choice of approving and printing your order or requesting further modifications. Therefore if you are not happy with our changes, you can send us a message letting us know what you would like us to do. Don’t be afraid to tell us to revert back to your original version, as it is your stationery after all!

Photos

How do I upload photos to my personalised stationery?

You can upload photos directly to any of our designs that include photo fields. Click on Upload Photos on the right-hand side of the editing tool, and this will then prompt you to browse your computer for the correct images. You can upload as many photos as you wish to your account so that you can try out different photos on the same invitations or cards. Once you have uploaded your photos, you can drag and drop your chosen photo into the photo field to add it to your personalised stationery.

What format do my photos need to be in?

Our online editing tool is compatible with jpeg, gif and png formats. We advise that you select a photo in high definition with a resolution of at least 300 ppi, to ensure that your photo will look great when printed. If you aren’t sure whether your photo is of a high enough quality, then do not hesitate to get in touch with our customer service team. Ensure that you choose the correct format of photo for your invitation or design, i.e. use a portrait photo for a portrait card.

What does it mean when I see an exclamation mark appear on the photo that I have uploaded to my personalised cards?

If an exclamation mark appears on your photo once you upload it to your invitations or cards, then this means that the resolution is less than 300 ppi. This means that there is a risk that your photo will not be of the highest quality when printed. This can be the case if you are using a photo that was taken with your mobile phone, or that the size or format of the image is not adapted to the format of the card. We would, therefore, advise you to change the photo for one of a higher resolution if possible. However, if you have your heart set on that photo, our team of graphic designers will do their best to optimise the quality of the photo, but we will be unable to guarantee our usual high-quality printing.

Do you have any advice on how to take good photos for my personalised stationery?

It is important to take your photos near a good natural light source, preferably with a digital camera. Avoid using photos from your mobile phone as these photos often don’t look as great in print as what they do on your screen.

Is it possible to add a photo to one of your designs that does not have a photo field?

This would form part of our advanced personalised changes, so you can get in touch with our friendly team to discuss whether or not this is possible for your chosen design and whether it will incur a surcharge.

Do I have to fill all the photo fields on your personalised cards and invitations?

No, you do not need to fill all of the photo fields. You can simply leave the photo fields empty by not uploading a photo. You will then need to confirm that you are happy to proceed without a photo, as a pop up will appear when you validate your order.

Text

Can you give me some ideas for the text for my personalised stationery?

Take a look at our different models for example texts in different styles, or get in touch with our friendly team, who will be more than happy to help you come up with some ideas. We will soon be adding some example texts to our website.

Can I remove the Rosemood logo from my personalised stationery?

The signature logo cannot be removed from your personalised stationery as it forms part of our contract with our independent designers, to help protect their exclusive designs. If you would like us to adjust the colour of the logo to render it even more discreet, you can ask us to do so via the special instructions box when making your order.

Can I change the font and colour of my text?

Our online editing tool is designed to give you full freedom over the text on your personalised stationery. You can, therefore, change the font and colour of the text as with Word, and also play around with the alignment and spacing.
